Well, at least I know where this one came from…
Last night, my wife was scrolling through Instagram and a post popped up with the Reading Rainbow theme playing in the background. It was all I could think about before going to bed... and sure enough, I woke up with it still looping in my head this morning.
This one’s not from my childhood, but I definitely heard it plenty as my kids were growing up. It's one of those theme songs that gets burned into your memory whether you're paying attention or not—simple melody, feel-good lyrics, and that classic '80s/early '90s PBS vibe.
Some quick trivia:
Reading Rainbow first aired in 1983 and ran for 23 seasons until 2006.
There were two versions of the theme song … the most famous version was sung by Tina Fabrique, though Chaka Khan recorded a version in later seasons.
Hosted by the one and only LeVar Burton, who made reading cool way before BookTok was a thing.
Still a total classic. And admit it—you’re already hearing it in your head now.
